The Great Glendale Galavant

Come galavant Glendale Boulevard with Los Angeles Walks and walk leader Bj Kavadas as we follow the route of the old Pacific Electric Red Cars through Atwater Village, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Historic Filipinotown, and Bunker Hill.

Glendale Boulevard is home to walkable commercial districts, historic sites, vibrant murals, and great lessons about how to design cities for pedestrian enjoyment (see Echo Park Lake, above). The juxtapose of old and new models of urbanism makes it a perfect street to discuss what Los Angeles was, what it is, and what it will become. As we walk, we will have the opportunity to discuss the various aspects of the built environment in each neighborhood and ideas on how to continue improving the City of Los Angeles for the pedestrian.
