Grand Opening of the Reservoir’s South Dam Walkway!
On Saturday, February 10th, 10am-12pm, Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, in partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), will host a community celebration to debut the long awaited South Dam walking path to complete the trail around the Silver Lake Reservoir. (Facebook event page)
The ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday, February 10, 10 a.m., at the South Dam east entrance on Silver Lake Boulevard at Rockford Road. The event will include a brief speaking program with local dignitaries and community members, followed by a ribbon cutting.
Creating the South Dam walking path was an element in the 2000 Silver Lake and Ivanhoe Reservoir Master Plan created to provide community benefits.
As part of the grand opening festivities, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) will also lead a 2.2 mile guided walk around Silver Lake Reservoir, giving the community a chance to learn about L.A.’s water supply, its infrastructure and L.A.’s water future.
Los Angeles Walks will join in the LADWP-led walk. Walk with us!
